Volkswagen Group UK announces action plan to modify diesel vehicles with EA 189 EU5 engines
A quote from the Directors
"ŠKODA UK’s parent company, Volkswagen Group UK, have announced an action plan to modify diesel engines known as 'EU5 Engines' which may have been fitted to various cars in the ŠKODA range. The modification is being rolled out in order to correct the emissions characteristics of the affected engines.
All new diesel vehicles currently available in the ŠKODA range are fitted with engines known as 'EU6 engines' and are not affected. All petrol models, as well as any V6 TDI and V8 TDI models are also unaffected.
Technical solutions are being developed, and will be presented to us before the end of October. In turn, we will contact affected customers with details of how we can get their vehicles corrected in the near future.
We would like to reassure all of our customers that their cars are completely safe to drive and that the emissions that we are measured by in the UK are not affected.
If you feel you are your car may be affected by this, in order to keep you up to date, we have set up a Information Alert service which you can sign up to. The moment we hear any further news or developments regarding the situation, we will make sure you are the very first to know.
We would like to reassure all of our affected customers that we will endeavour to make this update as simple and as hassle free as possible.
